If ever there is an example of an "artist of life" living his passion, it's Dr. Jeff
when it comes to supporting what he calls "innate" - the body's unique internal
intelligence and wisdom that is continually striving to maintain a state of
health within the body. He does so through chiropractic and a huge dose of enthusiasm
that he is more consistent with than just about anybody on the planet - as every adult,
child, dog or cat who has ever been on his table will testify.
Jeff's is one of those really beautiful stories - where it becomes crystal clear how
life leads us. While a doctoral student in neuropsychology, he was receiving chiropractic
care for a spinal injury, when the childhood asthma he had struggled with most of his
life, began to clear. On route to a promising research career, as the asthma continued
to clear, he decided to switch career paths midstream to chiropractic - so he could pass
the benefits on to others. Jeff graduated Cum Laude from Los Angeles Chiropractic College,
entered private practice in 1986, and has his Ptak Chiropractic practice in LA where he
resides with his wife Patricia and son Ian.
Taking his passion around the world, Jeff cofounded CREW (Chiropractors Restoring Energy
Worldwide) in 1997 to help special needs communities such as the children at the Autistic
School in Havana, Cuba pictured above. To date, he and the CREW team have served several
million people on their twice annual missions to Panama (nine times), Cuba, Costa Rica,
South Africa, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Mexico, with the next scheduled for November 2002 in
the Dominican Republic - caring for from 48,000 to as many as 415,00 people in a week.
Leading up to his chiropractic study, Jeff received his Bachelor of Science degree in
Psychology from The American University in Washington, D.C.. His extensive research in
the field of Physiological Psychology won him the rare appointment which he held at the
prestigious Neuropsychology Laboratory of the National Institute of Health in Bethesda,
MD., before entering chiropractic college. With a special emphasis on pediatric and family
health care, he expanded his mastery through extensive post graduate training in a wide
variety of chiropractic and other holistic healing arts from both west and east including
attending Emperors College of Traditional Oriental Medicine.
Jeff is an expert in the care of child and adult sports and recreational injuries and the
rehabilitation of injured workers and athletes. He Lectures extensively in LA, across the
US and abroad, is a published author in the area of brain function and human behavior, and
also a Qualified Medical Evaluator appointed by the Industrial Medical Council, and active
member of the International Chiropractors' Association, the Foundation for Chiropractic
Research, and the World Chiropractic Alliance.
